Case Study: Transform Nutrition West Africa

Transform Nutrition West Africa is a regional platform to enable effective policy and programmatic action on nutrition, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from 2017-2021 and led by the International Food Policy Research Institute.

Challenge

The previous iteration of the project had a website. Its purpose was mainly to promote the research outputs from the project and to provide information about the project. There was little to discern the different types of content and there were no engagement possibilities. We Are Potential were asked to develop a new website that not only expressed the new regional focus of the project and the different types of content being generated but also to engage with organisations and individuals to increase the uptake and use of nutrition research in the sector.

Solution

We Are Potential worked with the Transform Nutrition team to make the most of the content they had available, and to present it on the site where users would expect and need it. We set up templates that enabled automatically generated focal country pages, where a member of the editorial team could post once, and the content would appear in many places.

We used design to distinguish the content types and developed clear calls to action while still sticking to the brand.

Conclusion

We Are Potential developed an  easy to use website; one that was both easy to visit and easy to administer. We developed clear signposting so users knew what they were looking at and could easily find similar content.

We retained the brand consistency from the previous project but also created a new identity that the project can take forward.
